TrailTruth test terms
Private test build. Last updated October 12, 2026. By using this test copy of TrailTruth you agree to these terms and to the privacy policy.
Safety first. Trail information in this app can be wrong or out of date. Trails close, water dries up, and maps miss things. Always carry a paper map and compass, tell someone your plan, and check with the park before you go.
In an emergency, call 911 where it is available.
A private test
This is an early test version, shared by Neverclosed with a small group of invited testers. It may change, break or stop working at any time. It is provided as it is, with no promises that it is correct or fit for any purpose. Don't rely on it as your only way to find your way.
What you may not do
- Copy, share or redistribute the app, its code, its park data packs or its AI model, or your personal test link. Your link is for you only; we can turn it off at any time.
- Reverse engineer, decompile or take apart the app, its data packs or its model.
- Scrape or bulk-download the app, its data packs or its model, by script or by hand.
The AI trail companion (Gemma)
The trail companion runs Google's Gemma 3 1B model, fine-tuned by Neverclosed. It is provided under and subject to the Gemma Terms of Use. The fine-tuned model files carry a notice that Neverclosed modified them, and the Gemma notice ships with the app.
You may not use the companion or its model for anything the Gemma Prohibited Use Policy forbids, or for anything against the law. This is a condition of using the app. If you break it, your permission to use the companion, its model and the app ends. Google may also restrict use that breaks its terms.
You are responsible for how you use what the companion says.
Your data
We collect very little: what you type into our sign-up and feedback forms, and simple daily counts of how often your tester link opens the app and is used in a park. No name, no location, no device ID. We never sell or share it, and you can ask us to delete it. The privacy policy says exactly what we keep and why.
Map data
Map data comes from the USGS National Map, the National Park Service, USGS GNIS, 3DEP and NHD, PAD-US, and © OpenStreetMap contributors (ODbL) via Overture Maps. Their own terms apply to their data.
