TrailTruth
The hiking app that won't make things up.
Lost signal? TrailTruth still shows 911 and your exact coordinates in one tap, and finds the way out along mapped trails, from official park maps stored on your phone.
It answers only from official park, trail, water and elevation data. When the data doesn't hold the answer, it says it doesn't know instead of guessing.
What it does
- Works with no signal. Download a park's map while you have signal; after that, Where am I, Way out, Water and Daylight answer from the phone.
- Emergency screen. Call or text 911, with your coordinates and the rescue grid ready to read out.
- Plan a route. Pick a start and a distance and it suggests paths past landmarks, with turn by turn.
- Says what it doesn't know. It does not know today's closures, weather, trail conditions or whether a spring has water, and it tells you so.
It is not your only navigation: carry a paper map, tell someone your plan, and check with the park before you go.

We are looking for a small group of hikers to use it on real hikes and tell us where it's wrong. If a spot opens for you, we'll email you a personal link to the app. It runs in your phone's browser: no app store.
